Sherry A. Gay

ROCHESTER—Sherry A. Gay, 45, died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. after a two year battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 13, 1957 in Rutland, the daughter of Leon and Edna (Thresher) Fairbanks.

She was employed as a waitress at the Vermont Home Bakery in Hancock, before failing health forced her to retire. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, being outdoors and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her mother, Edna Fairbanks Williams of Hubbarton; her husband, Allan Gay of Rochester; two sons, Michael Fairbanks of Granville, and Luke Lee of Orlando, Fla.; two step-sons, Toby Gay of Randolph and Robert Gay of Burlington, Mass.; a step-daughter, Michelle Parrish of Rochester; two sisters, Margaret Scribner of Castleton and Angela Carter of Ocala, Fla.; one brother, John Fairbanks of Forestdale; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her step-father, Doug Williams, and a brother, Alfred Fairbanks.

There will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.
