Ellen E. Tucker

ST. MARYS, PENN.—Ellen E. Tucker, 83, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys, died Sunday, April 15 at the nursing home following a lengthy illness.

She was born Oct. 29, 1917 in Swampscott, Mass., the daughter of Patrick J. and Beatrice M. (Norton) Killilea.

On April 10, 1948 in Swampscott, she married B. Rodney Tucker of Tunbridge, Vt. Since 1955 they had made their home in St. Marys, Penn. Her husband died November 6, 2000.

She was a graduate of Swampscott High school and attended Burdette School of Business. She was member of St. Marys church, Scamper Trailer Club and the St. Marys Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross and for many organizations in the community.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mae Killilea of Lynn, Mass.; Jessie Tucker of Tunbridge; two nephews, David Splaine of Merrimac, Mass.; Benjamin Tucker of Tunbridge; and four nieces; Martha Flynn of Merrimac, Mass.; Ellen Green of Tenants Harbor, Maine; Judith Tucker of Wollaston, Mass; and Marilyn Lyford of Chelsea, Vt.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two sisters; Claire Splaine and Mary Killilea, and a brother, John Killilea. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday, April 18 at St. Marys church with the Rev. Frank Ziemkiewicz, O.S.B officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Sunday, Mary 6 at 2:30 p.m. at the Tunbridge Village Cemetery with the Rev. Omer St. Onge officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Elk Haven Nursing Home, 785 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, Penn. 15857 or to the Elk Regional Health Center, 763 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, Penn. 15857. The local arrangements are under the direction of the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea.
